Sharing Generously with Our Community
This week, our whole-school Celebration of the Word focused on generosity. The children reflected on Jesus’ call to share what we have, care for one another and recognise the dignity of every person.
As our response, we are collecting donations for St Helens Foodbank, helping it to continue supporting individuals and families across our local community. This is one way in which we can put our faith into action and live out our school mission:
“To do the little things well and to do them with love.”
We are very grateful to everyone who was able to support our collection. Every small act of generosity can make a meaningful difference.
International Day of Peace, 21st September, 2026
Our International Day of Peace prayers built upon our whole-school Celebration of the Word themes of reconciliation and forgiveness. Children reflected on how peace begins when we forgive others, repair relationships and make choices that bring people together.
Inspired by Jesus’ words, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9), children across the school prayed for people affected by war and conflict. They wrote prayers asking God to bring peace, comfort and hope to our world.
The children explored how this message connects to the Catholic Social Teaching principles of human dignity, solidarity and the common good. They considered how they could become peacemakers through their own words, choices and actions, before making personal commitments to bring peace to their classrooms, playground, homes and wider community.
In the following week, children reflected on how they had lived out this mission through forgiveness, kindness, inclusion and peaceful choices. This helped them recognise that even small acts of love can contribute to a more peaceful world.

Mission Day, 4th September, 2026
On Friday 4th September, we came together as a whole school to explore and celebrate our revised mission:
“To do the little things well and to do them with love.”
Inspired by St Thérèse of Lisieux, the children reflected on how small acts of kindness, prayer and service can make a big difference. Through worship, discussion and practical activities, they considered how they could live out our mission at home, at school, in our parish and within the wider community.
Our Mission Day helped everyone understand that our mission is not simply something we say—it is something we are called to live through our words, choices and actions each day.
Prayer Stations
During Mission Day, children moved prayerfully through a series of stations inspired by St Thérèse’s Little Way. At Drops of Love, they reflected on how small acts of love can make a difference. Each child contributed a petal to create our shared Mission Day rose, symbolising our school community growing together in love. At the Little Actions Jar, children made personal commitments to carry out simple acts of kindness, service and care, helping them live our mission: “To do the little things well and to do them with love.”

Throughout Mission Day, children explored St Thérèse’s Little Way through prayerful, creative and collaborative activities. They painted prayer pebbles for our prayer garden, created flowers and paper chains filled with loving intentions, made friendship bracelets to give to one another and completed helping hands showing how they could make a difference.
Each class also created a special cross featuring St Thérèse at its centre, reminding us that she always kept Christ at the heart of her life and that Jesus remains at the centre of all we do at St Theresa’s. Every child added their fingerprint to the cross, symbolising that each person is a unique, valued and important member of our school community.
Children also designed St Thérèse shields, enjoyed team-building activities and spent time supporting and playing with younger pupils. Each activity helped them understand how small acts of kindness, friendship and service can bring our school mission to life.
