Welcome to Year 4!

Hello and Welcome to Year 4,

I am Mr Bain and I will be your child (or children’s) Teacher this year. Mrs Hesketh will be their Teaching assistant.

This half term Year 4’s topic will be The Ancient Greeks – a study of Greek life and achievements and their influence on the western world. In Maths we will be focusing on place value and number fluency. It is important that your child becomes confident in recalling their multiplication facts. To help you with this each Year 4 child will have their own log in for TT Rockstars. https://ttrockstars.com/.  I will be sending a separate letter home with further details about this and your child’s log in details. 

In Literacy we will be reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes and using this as a stimulus for lots of different writing.

Our RE topics will be Families: People where children will be looking at their family trees and Jesus's Family tree.  

In Science we will be studying Sound. Identify how sounds are made and recognise that vibrations from sounds travel through a medium to the ear.

PE will take place on a Thursday afternoon.

• Children are expected to be in school for 8:30 - 8:45
• School closes at 3:00 pm 

Homework

will be sent home as follows:

Spellings will be sent home on a Friday to be practiced at home. 5 spellings will be tested each day, then all spellings tested again on a Friday.  

Monday: Maths (to be returned Tuesday)

Wednesday: Reading Book (to be returned for Monday)

Friday: Literacy (to be returned Monday)
